CrossFit
CrossFit is like a supercharged workout plan that mixes together different exercises to make you really fit. It was created in the early 2000s by a guy named Greg Glassman. The main goal of CrossFit is to boost your overall fitness by working on ten important things: how well your heart and lungs work, how much stamina you have, your strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination (making your body parts work together), agility (being quick and nimble), balance, and accuracy (being precise).
Instead of just focusing on one type of exercise, like running or lifting weights, CrossFit combines lots of different movements. You might run, lift weights, do gymnastics-like moves, and more all in one workout. They even have special workouts each day called WODs (Workouts of the Day) that keep changing, so you're always doing something new.
People like CrossFit because it's challenging and works on a bunch of different things at once. It's not just about looking strong; it's about being fit in many ways. Just like a puzzle with different pieces, CrossFit helps fit all these important fitness things together to make you healthier overall.
Tabata
Tabata is a type of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) that's like a short and intense burst of exercise. It's a workout method named after a Japanese scientist, Dr. Izumi Tabata. The cool thing about Tabata is that it's super time-efficient, lasting only about four minutes.
Here's how it works: You pick an exercise, like jumping jacks or squats, and you do it as hard as you can for 20 seconds. Then, you take a quick 10-second break. You repeat this cycle for a total of eight rounds, which adds up to four minutes.
The idea is to go all out during those 20 seconds, pushing your body to work really hard. Even though it's a short workout, Tabata can be pretty tough because you're giving it your all in those brief bursts.
People like Tabata because it's quick and still packs a punch. It's a great option for those with a busy schedule who want to get a good workout in a short amount of time. Just remember, it might be a quick four minutes, but it can leave you feeling energized and accomplished.
